Does a Bra Fit Perfectly Right Out of the Box?

Not exactly. When it comes to firm and supportive bras like those from Elila, there’s a bit of an art to ensuring the perfect fit. These bras are designed to offer incredible support, but before putting one on, I like to soften the material using the heat of my hands. This helps the fabric mold more easily to the body.

This process is an introduction to what we call “Fitter” education, not just “fit” education. A good fitter combines the technical with the practical and emotional. It’s a delicate alchemy, balancing hands-on adjustments with a deep understanding of personal comfort and respect.

Fitting isn’t just about placing a bra on someone—it’s about making sure the support system, like the sling in the cup, is positioned correctly, and ensuring that the bust tissue is moved into the proper place. As fitters, our job is hands-on, but it’s also about respecting personal space. It’s important to ask before making adjustments and to explain why and how you’re positioning the bra to ensure the best fit.

Think about it like when you adjust yourself in your car seat to get comfortable—we do the same with our clothes, and an expert fitter can help guide you in doing that with your bra for optimal comfort and support.
